Build a focused learning routine

Pick one story or lesson. The goal is understanding—not acting on every headline.

1. Choose one question

For example: What changed for this company? How does this fund work? Which risk am I overlooking? Use the question to choose a source.

2. Check the source and date

Note who produced the content, when it was published, whether it is reporting or opinion, and whether the speaker has a disclosed commercial interest.

3. Record one takeaway and one uncertainty

Use your own words. Verify important details with company filings, fund documents or another original source. Use our free learning planner to record your next question.

4. Continue with the matching resource library

Explore trading and investing books, research tools, or investing foundations. Learning content is not a reason by itself to place a trade.

Quick learning exercises

Estimate dividend income

Annual dividend income = number of shares × annual dividend per share. For example, 100 shares × $2.00 annually = $200 before taxes. Dividends can change and are not guaranteed.

Understand compounding

Compare the same starting balance and contribution schedule over 5, 10 and 20 years using an assumed annual return. Hypothetical returns do not predict market performance.

Prepare for an options trade

Write down the maximum loss, expiration, assignment obligations, liquidity, and the circumstances that would invalidate your thesis before placing a trade.
